Feathery Forest vzw is a registered NGO (1035525379) dedicated to farmed animal rescue and advocacy. We believe in a world where chickens are cherished, respected and free from harm. 

The chickens we rescue receive all the time, space and medical care they need to rehabilitate and experience the life every chicken deserves.
Through education and outreach, we raise awareness about the realities of industrial farming and encourage a compassionate, plant-based lifestyle.
While our primary focus is on poultry, our sanctuary also provides a safe haven for other animals in need, including sheep, pigs, turkeys, ducks, cats, and dogs. 

We need your help! 

As a non-profit, we rely entirely on the kindness of people like you. Here are three ways can make a difference:

  • Adopt a rescued animal 
    Do you have space in your heart and yard? By adopting from us, you give a rescued chicken a wonderful forever home and you free up space at our sanctuary so we can save another life. Fill out this form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

     

  • Become a sponsor
    Not every animal that arrives at Feathery Forest is ready or able to be adopted out. Some become permanent members of our family because they need specialized medical care, need extra time to overcome a tough past, or simply because they completely stole our hearts.
    For a minimum of 5 euros a month, you ensure they get the safe, loving forever home they deserve. In return, you’ll receive exclusive monthly updates with photos, and you’ll get the chance to visit and cuddle your sponsored friend at the sanctuary!

  • Make a donation
    Many of our animals arrive in  very poor condition and require immediate veterinary attention to save their lives.
    Medical bills make up the largest part of our budget. Your financial support also helps us buy high-quality food, fresh bedding and building materials to maintain their barns and enclosures.
    Even the smallest donations makes a huge difference!

  • Become a volunteer
    Want to help out hand-on?
    We are always looking for dedicated volunteers to help with animal transport, taking professional photos, and the general maintenance and cleaning of the sanctuary.

COMPANION ANIMALS

Farah, Noa, Lila and Aditi are our four Podencos. They are rescues from Spain. We also have three cats in the house. Cat Lolita likes to visit our guests in the cabin.

RESCUED ANIMALS

We rescue hundreds of chickens a year from the egg and meat industry.

Hens, used for their eggs, are often discarded after 1 year because egg production is dropping. Some of these animals find a safe temporarily space at Feathery Forest and are nursed back to health before they can get adopted. 

The chickens can be visited and are at walking distance from the cabin. 

RESCUED RESIDENTS

Some of the animals we rescued become permanent residents at Feathery Forest.  They either needed a new home, or were rescued from the meat or egg industry and need special care and for this reason couldn’t get adopted. There are the pigs Charlie and Teddy, many chickens, ducks and turkeys.

WILD ANIMALS

Our forest is also home to countless species of wild animals, from this rare and protected “fire salamander”, to bats and many species of birds and insects.
